The very idea of women in elegant silk gowns having to wear cloaks and fur wraps in April may have seemed as foreign as having a submarine race along the Trinity, but that’s exactly what happened for The Sweetheart Ball on Saturday, April 20.
Despite 2024 Chair Heather Washburne‘s creating a fabulous version of The Bahamas’ Lyford Cay Club complete with a replica of one of its bars, Ma Nature wasn’t going to accommodate the lead-in for the mega fundraiser for heart disease research and development at UT Southwestern.
But not to worry. Once the black-tie guests tip-toed the soggy walk up to shiver for the smile-and-snap photo opp just outside Brook Hollow’s Oak Room, they were transported to a Caribbean delight highlighted by beautiful people and head-turning gazillionaires.
