If the legendary patron of animals Saint Francis Assisi had launched a search for his representative in North Texas, he would have had no doubt that Jan Rees-Jones was the pick of the litter. With that thinking in mind, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Jan has been named the honorary chair for Operation Kindness’ (OK) 2024 Canines, Cats and Cabernet.
Taking place on Saturday, November 2, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, the fundraiser boasts a host committee headed up by Miles Blanton, Curt Boisfontaine, Elbert Choi, Nancy Cozzie, Catherine Griffin, Joni McCoy and Kate Malone.
In accepting her newest role, Jan said, “I am honored to participate in the Canine, Cats and Cabernet event this year. Since our Foundation’s inception in 2006, one of our key priorities has been to promote the human treatment of companion animals. Properly care for, these animals enrich our lives in so many ways and contribute to the overall well-being of families from all around our city. Operation Kindness has been there for our pets for almost 50 years, bringing the best medical care and services to the most vulnerable animals in our community, and I am so pleased to be a small part of their work.”

The evening will celebrate the organization’s passion for animal wellness with a VIP reception, a seated dinner, auctions (both silent and live) and dancing to the tunes of the Emerald City Band. And, naturally, there will be a meet-and-hug get-together for guests with OK residents in a live adoption lounge.
In honor of Jan’s support and hands-on involvement in helping animals and their human companions, OK CEO Ed Jamison said, “Jan and The Rees-Jones Foundation have been integral partners to our lifesaving work at Operation Kindness. I’m thrilled to have Jan as our Canines, Cats and Cabernet honorary chair this year, and to have all of our new host committee members who will make our 2024 event the best one yet.”
This year’s goal is to have 500 guests hauling in $837,000.
Sponsorships range from $2,500 to $50,000 with individual tickets going for $300.
